The waterfronts southeast of Bangkok are the weekend destination for many Thai people and foreigner living in the capital.
It is somehow similar to the towns on the French west coast for the people of Paris. This city at the sea emerged from a small town and summer retreat for Thai Royalty since 1920, into a mayor travel destination in Thailand with an excellent wide beach various hotels and other accommodations plus up market apartments. Once a small fishing village now a popular tourist destination with large numbers of foreigners.
There is also a direct flight connection to Kuala Lumpur but no
Burkinis
around yet. Anyway there is always time to buy new swimwear maybe some swimshorts for the men and a sexy bikini also for lage size.
Since about 40 years the place receives lots of foreigners who enjoy the long, almost endless seafront well beyond Cha Am to the the east and growing. Also the spa frenzy of resent years left its mark in form of several excellent spa's usually integrated into the big hotels and beach resorts. A smaller version of spa's can be found in the down town area there they call it massage parlor served by the pretty Thai ladies
Cha-Am Beaches.
At the turn of the millenium the beach landscape got a visually negative twist when some real estate sharks managed to pull up the first high rise building directly on the beach. This as usual encouraged others and after a few years about a dozen skyscrapers are up at the beach and they definitely wont enrich the once beautiful beach scenery at Hua Hin and Cha Am.

After they transformed the once sleepy Hua Hin into a easily reachable Bangkok suburb it become a copy of Pattaya although with less sex business and the train to the south and Malaysia and Singapore passes through the railaway starts at Hua Lamphong Terminal in Bangkok.
One of the best waterfront in this area is the eastern extension of Hua Hin's main beach easely accessible via the 4 lane highway which is in very good condition and many beach resorts between the road and the waterfront with lush palm plantings around also a very quiet place although they have been built a couply of highrise apartment buildings at the shorefront which doesnt look very inviting optically. But a bit to the east they stopped this and hte beach resorts such as the Regent Cha-Am lokk like this.
